BEHR Paints Launches Innovative In-Store Kiosk & Website Application Using Scene7
ColorSmart by BEHR™ deployed in all US/Canada The Home Depot stores & on www.behr.com to empower consumers to make confident paint color selections

Novato,CA — November 5, 2003 — Scene7, the leading provider of dynamic imaging software, today announced that BEHR Paints licensed Scene7's Infinite Imaging™ Platform to launch an innovative in-store kiosk and website application to help consumers select and coordinate paint colors with confidence. BEHR Paints, the largest provider of premium paints and stains to the North American Do-It-Yourself home improvement market is using the technology to inspire consumers and make the paint-selection process easier and quicker with ColorSmart by BEHR™.

"Scene7 offers exceptional visualization technology for our ColorSmart by BEHR™ system. Our goal with The Home Depot is to help improve the overall in-store buying experience for consumers, thus making the paint selection process easier and faster by enabling them to make confident color selections for their home decorating projects," said Mary Rice, Vice President Marketing, BEHR Paints. "Initial consumer reaction is positive and encouraging based on trends we've seen due to the launch of the new Color Solutions Centers in The Home Depot stores." BEHR Paints is the first company to deploy Scene7's Infinite Imaging Platform for an in-store kiosk and website application. The Windows/Web-based kiosk application allows consumers to choose from thousands of BEHR colors and apply them to walls and ceilings in room scenes real-time. In addition, it recommends other coordinating colors and sheens, provides lightening or darkening of color tones, and then allows customers to print out the results and bring to a store sales associate. All visuals, both on the monitor and printer are color-calibrated to achieve realistic photo color renderings. The in-store kiosk and website application currently features BEHR's Premium Plus® paint brand, which is sold exclusively at The Home Depot. BEHR plans to continually update from the current baseline of 5 interior and 5 exterior room scenes with new rooms and alternative lines and products. The new web version will eventually allow customers to save/retrieve their designs on-line at home or in-store for future revisions.

"We're excited to partner with one of the nation's leading paint suppliers. ColorSmart by BEHR™ is helping BEHR and The Home Depot increase paint sales, shorten the in-store selling cycle, and reduce customer purchase anxiety — by providing picture-perfect visualization of paint colors and sheens in photo-real room settings," states Doug Mack, CEO of Scene7. "ColorSmart by BEHR™ can also be accessed from home at www.behr.com — thus broadening the use of Scene7's platform across multiple channels."
