Beall’s Increases Conversions By More Than 20 Percent with Scene7
Florida department store leveraging Scene7’s rich media platform to enhance online customer experience
NOVATO, CA — Scene7®, provider of the leading on-demand rich media platform, today announced that Beall’s, Florida’s leading independently-owned department store and multi-channel retailer, is increasing online sales with Scene7. Within three weeks of implementing just dynamic zoom on its site, Beall’s experienced a 20 percent uplift in conversions.
Beall's Department Stores, Inc., operates more than 85 stores in Florida specializing in apparel and footwear for men, women and children, and gifts and housewares. Beall’s loyal customer base relies on many of the private label brands offered in the stores; however, many shoppers spend only a portion of the year in Florida. Therefore, it was important for Beall’s to make its products available online and allow shoppers to view product details. “Bealls’ shoppers want to be able to purchase our private label brands anytime, anywhere, even when they are not near a Beall’s store,” said Kim Siefke, eCommerce Manager for BeallsFlorida.com. “We wanted to give customers access to all of the products available in our stores through the Internet, and be able to offer them an enhanced shopping experience. Scene7’s platform and flexible deployment options provided us the ideal solution to do this.”
After deploying Scene7 dynamic zoom across its entire site, Beall’s realized an increase in conversion rates within three weeks. Beall’s in-house photo studio shoots all new merchandise and adds between 300 and 500 new products to its site each week, which, through a simple automated back-office process, are published to Beallsflorida.com where customers can quickly and interactively zoom and pan on images to see product details.
Scene7’s rich media platform dynamically generates and delivers unlimited derivatives from high-quality single master images, allowing companies to speed time to market and drastically reduce image production costs. While Beall’s currently only uses Scene7’s dynamic zoom functionality, the company plans to expand its use of Scene7 to leverage the platform for dynamic image sizing, alternative views and color change. Beall’s is also considering deploying the Scene7 platform for its in-store kiosks so customers can see all products available even if they are not in that particular store.
“Beall’s is a prime example of the importance and value of rich media for delivering enhanced customer experience and driving sales,” said Doug Mack, CEO of Scene7. “We are proud to be Beall’s rich media partner, and look forward to working with the company as it continues to leverage our scalable platform to further enhance its the online shopping experience while recognizing back-office savings.”
